How Role will make an impact:
- Programs, analyzes, and runs tests on new or modified software programs, including documentation, diagram, and flowchart, and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to establishment guidelines.
- Conducts compatibility tests with vendor-provided programs.
- Runs in-depth testing, detects problems, recommends solutions, and determines if program requirements have been met.
- Recommends program improvements or corrections to programmers.
- Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards, and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to attain quality of software economically and efficiently.
- Reviews computer operating log to identify program processing errors.
- Enters instructions into computer to test program for validity of results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to establishment standards.
- Observes computer monitor screen during program test to detect error codes or interruption of program and corrects errors.
- Identifies differences between establishment standards and user applications, and suggests modifications to conform to standards.
- Sets up tests at request of user to locate and correct program operating error following installation of program.
- Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.
- Writes documentation to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction.
- May evaluate proposed software or software enhancement for feasibility.
- May develop utility program to test, track, and verify defects in software program.
- May write programs to create new procedures or modify existing procedures.

Instructor Controller III

The Instructor Controller provides technical expertise for the set-up, configuration, operation, training and troubleshooting of U.S. military command and control-related clients and software tools. Individual shall be the technical expert on the simulation-stimulation of the systems to include the employment of command and control (formerly mission command) information systems (C2IS) and the employment of simulations and/or gaming systems that stimulate C2IS. Supports the design, planning, preparation, execution, and recovery of systems to support exercise control. Provides instruction to personnel as designated by the exercise/event lead to meet individual and unit training objectives. Supports IT system configuration, troubleshoots issues, and provides IT quality assurance.
How Role will make an impact:
- Utilize experience and skills from the extensive use of mission command information systems and of live, virtual, constructive and gaming simulations per U.S. Army doctrine for training from assignments in U.S. Army branches such as but not limited to Armor, Infantry, Logistics, Artillery, Military Police, Air Defense, Engineer, Aviation, Signal, Transportation and other organizations and branches. This routine use of simulations and/or command and control information systems includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:
- Operate simulation and mission command information system clients and provide functional support and feedback during events.
- Support the technical system used to include writing exercise support plans and identifying personnel requirements.
- Recover and reconsolidate all systems after the exercise to ensure 100% functionality.
- Test and provide operator level maintenance and storage of command and control, simulation, and gaming systems.
- Provide over the shoulder support to the military and civilian personnel on the operation of command and control and supporting simulation systems.
- Support the After Action Review collection and presentation process.
- Provide input to exercise design and technical planning products.
- Develop, refine, execute and manage programs of instruction for simulation systems and mission command information systems as determined by the customer.
- Prepare and provide professional instruction on simulation systems and mission command information systems in a classroom and/or lab environment to U.S. and / or multinational audiences up to approximately 50 personnel.
- Provide technical expertise in the set-up, configuration, testing, training, operating and troubleshooting of simulation, gaming and mission command information systems to support individual, collective, and unit training.
- Support system database development and advise on use of command and control, simulation, and gaming systems to support individual, collective, and unit training objectives.
- Provide IT configuration of stations and related systems.
- Perform IT quality assurance of systems and provide feedback to system network administrators.
- Document and update processes including internal training and certification programs.
- Perform tasks under deadlines.
- Prepared to work at a computer terminal for extended periods.
- Prepared to work 12-hour shifts, day or night, for consecutive days up to 3 weeks.
- Support the preparation, execution, pre-exercise setup and post-exercise recovery and reset of all facilities, workstations, work areas, TOC Pads, and training areas back to their original configurations.
- Participate in individual training, seminars, conferences, exercise/experiment planning events, site surveys, and exercise and training events and supports the planning and preparation processes and product development as needed.
- As required, be prepared to develop assessments input for exercise design, planning, preparation, execution, and after action review of company through COCOM-level exercises

How Role will make an impact:
- Conduct doctrinal staff training on all Army WfFs educating the command group and staff on Mission command art and science as well as directly supporting staff exercises in a trainer role.
- Act as the main point of entry to obtain, review, and process training requests IAW the Commander's intent which is submitted to their assigned MTC for resourcing.
- Ensure training requests adhere to overall strategic plan and vision outlined by the unit commander for any given training year.
- Track all approved events and inform the commander or staff of any changes or updates to the training event.

How Role will make an impact:
- The SM works on premise at each MTC during operating hours and has decision making authority for the execution at the MTC.
- Works collaboratively and in concert with the MTC Commander in direct support of the training and technical missions.
- Provides status updates relating to all contractor performance requirements.
- Responsible for all contractor performance requirements at the MTC as well as for overall regional scheduling, and management coordination, oversees training execution, and manages contractor continuing education/training.
